I now know something. . .

Well, i still do not know much. . . but Bay st. louis has been completely destroyed! SO IT IS OFFICIAL I AM HOMELESS!!! But that is all I know, i still do not know about school, and because of down cell towers and the phone lines being so busy, i can not get a hold of other students, i know where two are, and then myself, but no one else, the lines at stennis still do not work. . . i read today that bay st louis is so bad, they are going around and spray painting large red X's on houses with dead people in them. . they do not have enough refrigerater trucks to remove the bodies, i dont know what i am going to do if i go back and see large red X's, i dont think i could handle that. . .oh well, that is all i know, i am sitting in a coffee shop in Myrtle Beach, the one where i used to study. . . its just weird to be back, but good at the same time. . .i will let post more when i know more

Well it is official, I know absolutely nothing. The right side of Katrina's eye passed right over my house, so that means lots of wind and lots of rain and storm surge. So, as of now all that the papers and news people say that Bay St. Louis has sever flooding. But that is all that is known. One paper said "DO NOT RETURN." So I know there is flooding and not to return. What I would like to know, and cannot find out is how much flooding and if my apartment is flooded or if it is even standing. Who the Hell knows, why nobody knows. So I am in this state of uncertainty, I am assuming the worst, but my state of mind would be much better if I just knew. No matter what happened, if I knew then I could start to plan, and I could figure out what it is I will do. I am a planner, I like to know what is going on and what I am going to do about it, so not knowing kills me!!!!!!!!!!

I do not know if classes are going to start up anytime soon, I do not know when we will be allowed back to the Bay, I do not know if I am homeless or not, I do not know if I need to place a claim into State farm, I do not know. . . . . .

So, tomorrow I am heading to Myrtle Beach!! I still have a few friends there, and I think hanging out there and catching up with some old friends will really help me distract my mind.
Hopefully it will do the trick, because right now all I want to do is curl up in a ball and cry. Not because I may be homeless, but because I just do not know and there is nothing I can do about it. I hate that more than anything in the world. I would be ok if everything I owned that was left behind was washed away, and if I had no place to live, just as long as I knew that is what happened. But alas, that is not the way it is. . . The news keeps on talking about New Orleans and Alabama, but what about the state in between, you know the one called Mississippi. And when they do mention Ms (its rare), they mention biloxi, which is about 30-45 min east of where I live, so that is a world of difference when it comes to the amount of damage done.

I just don't know. . . hopefully I will be able to get some sleep --

Well, its official New orleans if FUCKED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It appears as if the eye will be right over new orleans or just to the west of it. so either category 5 winds or storm serge. Either way, i may not have a home soon. the storm surge is looking to be about 20+ feet, and well. . . say goodbye apartment. Oh well, I have renters insurance, so I get to buy all new stuff!!!!!!!!!!! WOOHOO. Oh well, I just hope the people who got stuck in New Orleans or those who were not able to leave are ok. The name Katrina will never be used again. :(

Anyway, I am here in Georgia, IM thinking it may be a few weeks before we are allowed back in the area. . . So im thinking of heading on over to Myrtle Beach, Sc. I have people there that I can stay with. . . plus I am already almost half way there so why the hell not. :)

Evacuation!!!!!!!!

Well, it looks like Katrina is heading strait for New Orleans, which means Bay st. Louis will be on the eastern side of the storm. . . therefore we will get the storm surge and lots of rain, oh and probably some flooding as well. So, it looks as if I may be using my renters insurance, hum.. . I have been wanting some new stuff:). Oh well, so I have evacuated to Georgia, I have an aunt who lives there. It was a long 6 hour drive but I got out before they started evacuating, so traffic was not to bad. So, now I just get to wait and see. . . I might be homeless soon :(

I apologize, I need to vent for a minute. . .

So, Hailong is our new Chinese student and he is currently living in Bay St. Louis, where most all of the students here live. He can not buy a car, because he does not have his social security number yet (usually takes a couple of months after the paperwork is filled out). So, all of the students who live in the area were asked if we could take turns driving him to and from school, until he can buy a car. There are atleast 10 students in the bay area, so everyone could drive him once every other week. . . no big deal, right. Well this e-mail asking people for help was sent out last week (monday). . .apparently I am the only student who has volunteered to give him a ride to school. I don't even think the person who sent out the e-mail is going to help. That is what pisses me off about people here. . . they are willing to get together if there is free beer involved, but they refuse to help anyone out. I personally was raised, that if someone needs help. . . you help them, so I honestly just do not understand this kind of selfishness. Where does it come from, and what makes people think they are above helping peole out. I do feel better knowing, that their bad karma will eventually come back to haunt them, and they will (with time) get what is coming to them. . . but anyway I am the only student willing to help out another student. So, needless to say I am a little pissed off and disheartened by this whole thing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Weekend

This weekend went well. I helped move most all of Amanda's stuff into her new room. There are just a few things left to move, like a fish tank, but she wanted to do that later. The weekend went off without a hitch, only one casualty -- Amanda's shin was attacked by the new house, but I think that was the house's way of saying welcome :). But other than that all was good. Joe even got a bed out Amanda's move, so now he owns one bed, computer, clothes, two knives, two mugs and a sheet. He is moving on up :)!!!!!!!!!

I also now understand Amanda's frustration with the graduate students there. Amanda had a goodbye party for one of the students that just graduated, and the party started to winde down at about 10:30 and everyone was gone by 11:00 ish. WOW!!!!!! In Myrtle Beach we didn't ever start the night before 10:30, let alone end it by then.

So, after a night of next to no sleep. . . . I go into school and realize that I am about as useful as the walking dead. I was able to do a few things, like acid wash bottles of winkler titrations and wash sediments for picking. . So basically the tasks that I could teach a monkey to do. I did however, almost fall asleep at the sink as I was washing sediments. . . Oh well, so I have come home early and taken a nap. . . So I will be go to go on the drive to Amanda's. I am helping her move this weekend. . . I am so excitited, I love moving stuff. . . Especially when it is not my stuff. Yah I am weird, I know :)

Well. . .the night started off well enough. . we had been drinking for a while when all of a sudden Art and his friend Jay decide to race the wheelchair down the hall. The wheelchair belongs to arts neighbor who has a broken leg. . . she uses it when she is making multiple trips to and from the car. (Art is in the chair)

SYSTEM OF A DOWN

So, the System of a Down show last night was freaking amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They played a 2 hour set and it was totally worth the 3 hour drive to Amanda's and then the 3 1/2 hour drive into Texas. The opening bands sucked, but it didn't matter once System came on. They played the one song I really wanted to hear. . . Bounce, and Amanda and my calves really got a nice workout on that one.

We had decided to spend a few extra dollars and get seats vs. lawn, and it was totally worth it, we were relatively close and it was nice to be able to get up and walk around and not worry about losing our spots. It was really weird seeing a show like this at a place other than the House of Blues in Myrtle Beach. I have just become so accustom to that environment and to the set up there, that it just seems weird to be elsewhere. But, even so the show was amazing, probably the best show I have ever seen. If I had the money, and tixs were not sold out I would so be going to see them in Florida, definitely worth a second viewing. So, if you get a chance to see them this tour, do it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Blind sided

So, I was doing good. The week in California was good, got my mind away from school and all of the shit that had been going on here. I had a good time, came back and wasn't feeling so bad about the whole Ray thing. Then WHAM, I got knocked on the side of the head, right back to where I was. So, yet another sleepless night. You would think after being in California for a week and partying every night, that I would pass out. . . nope. Oh well, not much I can do. So, I have caught up with everyone's blogg's and gone through my email. So, now there isn't much to do. Oh well. Tomorrow, I will write all about my California adventures tomorrow. So, I leave for San Diego today. My older brother lives there (he is in the navy) and it has been a couple of years since I have seen him. So, instead of going home for a visit this summer I have elected to go and visit him. My mom is in the process of selling the house anyway, and who wants to be spending their week of in a house where complete strangers could come at any moment and force you out of the room/house. Plus, you can’t really hang out in pj's all day under those circumstances. Plus, I have never been to southern California before so, why not go.

My flight leaves today at ~2:00, which is great; I don’t have to get up at the ass crack of dawn to drive to New Orleans to make a flight. However, that leaves ample time for me to go to school (it is on the way to the airport). Therefore I am hiding out in my office with the door shut, I hope that no one comes looking for me, I just don't want to do anything work related. I finished everything that I had to do tomorrow, but knowing Charlotte, if she sees me she will think of some last minute thing. It’s inevitable. Oh well.

I don't know if I will have internet access in Cal? So this may be the last blogg till the 10th or not. You will just have to tune in to find out:). So, wish me luck on this avoiding work thing (I refuse to be a "golden child") and later gator
