Yes I am a dork :)

So far this morning has been great, mind you its only 9:00 am (ive been up since 4 -- couldnt sleep) so who knows how the rest shall go... but so far great!!!!!! Every once in a while, i peruse eBay looking for old books about forams or geology and what not... and today I found two great ones....
the first one is:

Ecologic Atlas of Benthic Foraminifera of the Gulf of Mexico

by C. Wylie Poag

Marine Science Internatioal, Woods Hole, Mass. 7 x 10". Black illustrated covers. Good plus condition, edge rubbing, light soiling, NEW copy with shelfwear. Contents are fine. vii + 174 pages, 64 plates with numerous figures, distribution map in back pocket is mint. The plates are photographs of individual specimens with species identification. A scarce and important work on the foraminifera of this region.

I am so excited, I bought this one!! Hopefully it will ship out next week, and only $40 -- not bad at all :) I use plates from this book all the time, but the plates I have are photocopied so the quality is not so great... so now I will have origional plates, plus I will be able to scan them for use in the lab -- YAY!!!!!!

The second one:

A Bibliography of the Foraminifera, Recent and Fossil, from 1565-1888;

With Notes Explanatory of some of the Rare and Little-Known Publications, by Charles Davies Sherborn. Published by Dulau & Co, London 1888.

This one I havent baught yet -- its up till the end of the month, and is a good bit more expensive, so we will see how much money i have left at the end of the month -- and that will make it easy to determine if i buy it or not...

And then... I started perusing the fossil/rock collection... wish i had money... there are some really cool fossils (of course the ones i like are >$200) and some really cool jewelry made out of fossils...YES i am a dork :) ... some made out of trilobits, amber, and ammonites... gee wish i had money!!!!!!!!!

Anyone want to aid in the geology graduate student's quest for cool fossils... donations are accepted :)
